A Message from the Principal…………

South Elementary Principal

I am thrilled to serve as principal of South Elementary in the district I love and call home. As a 1990 Daingerfield High School graduate, I am a Daingerfield Tiger through and through.  I believe collaboration among our community, our families, and our schools is the key to success in providing the best education possible for our students.  By working together we can prepare our students for a more promising future. Teachers and staff members at South Elementary are committed to supporting each student’s learning experience through quality instruction and guidance that addresses the needs of the whole child. We believe parents are the first and most important teacher our students have. We look forward to building relationships, getting to know all of our parents, and working together to help our students meet their academic goals.

I am looking forward to an awesome school year at South Elementary! We have an incredible group of teachers and support staff working hard to make a difference every day. Please call or email if I can be of any assistance.

Sincerely,
Angie Reeder

Re:  Notification of Confirmed COVID-19 Case on Campus

Dear Parent/Guardian,

In keeping with D-LS ISD’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families that a staff member who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 was present on the campus of South Elementary on Monday, August 17, 2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her.

After careful review, we have determined that the COVID-positive person did not come into close contact (within 6 feet without a face covering) with students or staff. Operations at South Elementary will continue as usual, and we will keep you apprised of further updates. The related areas of the school have been disinfected and sanitized.  We believe that the individual was likely infected with COVID-19 off-campus.

While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

O Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;

o    Sore throat;

o   New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a

chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);

o    Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or

o    New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

If you or any member of the South Elementary community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage anyone in the South Elementary community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school by contacting 903-645-3501.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the campus principal at 903-645-3501 or visit our website at dlsisd.org.

Sincerely,

Sandra Quarles,

Superintendent

O Temperatura de 100.4 grados Fahrenheit o más alta cuando se toma por vía oral;

o dolor de garganta;

tos alérgica / asmática crónica, un cambio en su tos desde el inicio);

o Diarrea, vómitos o dolor abdominal; o

Sinceramente,

Sandra Quarles,

Superintendente
