‘TIGER BAND’ SUMMER BAND LETTER
Dear ‘Tiger Band’ Students and Parents:
My name is Joel Weisberg, and I’m proud to be the new band director for Daingerfield/Lone Star ISD. We are extremely excited about the 2021/2022 edition of the ‘Tiger Band!’ We want to welcome all incoming ninth grade students to our high school band family. We are honored that you are continuing with us and are thrilled to have you as the newest members of our band. Our UIL competition show is going to be AWESOME-music will be available shortly for those that would like to get a head start. Please read this letter carefully, as it outlines our summer camp dates, times, and safety information.
Summer Band (See back of this page for specific dates/times-IF YOU WORK, PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR BOSS SO YOU WILL BE THERE)
Summer band rehearsals will begin on Monday, August 2, 2021. See schedule (on back) for rehearsal dates/times. Summer band is FUN/VERY IMPORTANT because we have uninterrupted time to learn the fundamentals of marching and get a quality head-start on the music we will be performing on the field and in the stands.
Make sure to drink plenty of water in the days leading up to summer band camp. In addition, the days/week leading up to our camp, it is a GREAT idea to get outside and acclimate yourself to the heat of the summer. Please bring your own water bottle or insulated jug to rehearsal each day. This will help you stay hydrated and healthy...and don’t forget to eat a good breakfast and lunch daily - we want everyone to be hydrated and healthy for our camp!
Please plan to wear good athletic shoes to practice. Keds, Vans, and slides will not be acceptable. Shoes also need to be tied the appropriate way. Please wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are strongly recommended.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us-
