Mrs. Spann's Pre-K classroom joined classrooms around the world to participate in the O.R.E.O. Project.
Students estimated how many Oreos they were able to stack before their Oreos® tumbled. Then each student in the classroom stacked Oreo cookies as high as he or she could. They stacked one cookie on top of the next cookie one at a time. They could not use anything to stabilize the cookie and they were not able to adjust cookies as they stacked. Once a cookie tumbled the total count of Oreos® stacked was recorded. Each student had two attempts to stack Oreos® and recorded the highest amount he/she was able to stack before tumbling. The number of cookies stacked by each student was recorded and all were averaged to achieve the final class result. The O.R.E.O. Project provided students practice in hand/eye coordination, counting, estimating, averaging, and eating Oreos®
Parents, grandparents, and other staff members at West Elementary were invited to participate in the fun learning experience.
